The Istanbul Policy Center (IPC) is launching a new international research project focusing on societal participation and local value creation in the field of renewable energy. Offering a comparative framework between Europe and Latin America, the EU-LAC LOVPRELAE project aims to provide a multi-dimensional perspective on energy transition by bringing together practices from different countries.

The EU-LAC LOVPRELAE project aims to examine how different political, regulatory, and institutional contexts in Germany, Türkiye, Brazil, and Peru shape citizens' participation in renewable energy projects and the opportunities for local benefit generation from these projects. The study aims to provide a holistic assessment of the social, environmental, and economic impacts of renewable energy projects, offering a unique and methodologically strong academic contribution to the literature on Türkiye's energy transition.

Supported under the European Union–Latin America and Caribbean Interest Group (EU-LAC Interest Group) call, the project is planned to start in June 2026. Within the scope of the 18-month project, IPC; It will undertake the coordination of comparative policy analysis, case studies and scientific publication outputs.
